What Mes Papiers is, what it isn't, and the rules of using it, written so you can actually read them.

What Mes Papiers is

Mes Papiers is a tool that reads French administrative letters and explains them in plain English. It can also help draft a French reply, save the letter to your Dossier, and remind you of any deadlines. That is the entire product.

What Mes Papiers is not

Mes Papiers is information, not advice. We are not an avocat, not an expert-comptable, not a doctor. We do not represent you before any administration, do not file paperwork on your behalf, and do not take responsibility for the consequences of decisions you make based on what you read here. For advice on your specific situation, talk to a professional. For anything that looks like a real legal threat (mise en demeure, saisie, assignation), see an avocat the same day.

Who can use Mes Papiers

You need to be old enough to enter a contract under French law (18, generally) and able to do so. Mes Papiers is built for anyone living in France who receives French administrative letters, whether you're French or not. Sign in is by magic link to an email address you control.

What you upload

When you upload a letter, you confirm that you have the right to do so, usually because the letter was sent to you. You give Mes Papiers a limited licence to process the image so we can produce the explanation, store the explanation in your Dossier (if you're signed in), and keep the original scan so the doc viewer can show it next to the explanation. You can delete any of this at any time. Detailed handling is on the Privacy page.

What you must not upload

Letters that aren't yours, letters obtained illegally, content that isn't a French administrative letter and is being used to stress-test the model, anything illegal under French law. If we spot abuse we'll suspend the account and delete the data without warning. Honest mistakes (you uploaded the wrong file) are not abuse; just delete it.

Accuracy

The AI gets things right most of the time and gets things wrong some of the time. The reading is a starting point, not a final answer. Verify any deadline, amount, or named obligation against the original letter before you act on it. If a reading looks off and the stakes are real, treat the letter as if Mes Papiers had said nothing and read it the slow way. Mes Papiers is not liable for decisions you make on the basis of an incorrect reading; that is why the verification step exists.

Reminders are best-effort

We send a single email three days before any deadline we know about, drawn from your Dossier. Email is best-effort: providers block, filters bin, scheduled jobs sometimes lag. Don't treat our reminder as your only safety net for an important deadline. Add it to your calendar too; there's a button on every letter.

Pricing and subscriptions

Mes Papiers has three tiers: a free plan with monthly limits, a Pro plan (€9.99/month or €79/year), and a Student plan (€4.99/month or €39/year, requires academic email verification). Prices include applicable VAT for EU customers. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. The full pricing schedule lives at /pricing and what each tier unlocks is itemised there.

Free trials

Pro is offered as a 14-day card-not-required trial. We don’t ask for a card to start. If you don’t subscribe by day 14, your account quietly drops back to free — no surprise charge. One trial per user.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel any time from Settings → Manage subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; until then Pro features stay active. We don’t pro-rate mid-period refunds for change-of-mind, but if a charge is genuinely disputed, email billing@mespapiers.app within 14 days of the charge and we will refund.

Right of withdrawal

Under French consumer law, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of subscription. Because Mes Papiers is a digital service that begins immediately, you waive that right by starting to use Pro features within those 14 days (this consent is captured at checkout). If you haven’t used any Pro features, email billing@mespapiers.app within 14 days of subscription for a full refund.

Ending the service

You can stop using Mes Papiers at any time. Sign out stops reminders. Deleting your account starts a 30-day soft-delete window during which you can restore — after that the deletion is irreversible. Some encrypted backups roll off on a slower cycle (typically up to 90 days) but are inaccessible to anyone day-to-day. We can suspend or close an account that abuses the service, and we’ll tell you why if we do.

Liability

To the extent French law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past twelve months (which, today, is zero). We do not exclude liability for gross negligence, fraud, or anything else French law forbids us to exclude. Your rights as a consumer under the Code de la consommation are unaffected by anything written here.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that meaningfully affects you, we'll email signed-in users and post a banner on the site for at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Trivial edits (typos, clearer phrasing) we just ship.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. If we ever disagree and can't sort it out by email, the courts of Paris have jurisdiction, except where French consumer law gives you the right to use a court closer to home.

Contact

For questions about these terms, email contact@mespapiers.app. For privacy and data requests, see Privacy → Contact. Legal and editorial details (entity, address, médiateur) are in the Legal notice. One person still reads everything that comes in for now. Email also accepted for things we should fix.
