CVEC 2026-2027: the €105 fee you have to pay before your university will enrol you
The CVEC is €105 for 2026-2027. Every student in French higher education files it on cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr. No attestation, no validated inscription.
If you are starting or continuing higher education in France this autumn, there is a small payment standing between you and a validated inscription. The Contribution Vie Étudiante et de Campus, always called the CVEC, is €105 for the 2026-2027 academic year. It is not a tuition fee and your university does not collect it. You file it yourself with the CROUS, and you hand your university the attestation it produces.
Who has to file it
Everyone enrolled in an initial-training programme in French higher education: université, BTS, BUT, prépa, grande école, recognised private school. Nationality makes no difference. An international student pays exactly what a French student pays, and the fee is the same whether it is your first year or your fifth.
How to do it
- Create or sign in to a MesServices.etudiant.gouv.fr account.
- Go to cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr and start the file for 2026-2027.
- Pay the €105 by card, or claim your exemption and upload the proof.
- Download the attestation PDF, which is generated immediately, and keep the code on it.
When to do it
There is no single national deadline. The real cut-off is whatever date your own school sets for finalising inscription, which for an autumn start usually falls somewhere in September. That is why the practical advice is to file the CVEC the moment you know which school you are attending. Nothing is gained by waiting, and a blocked inscription in the last week before term is a stressful thing to fix from abroad.
Two things that catch people out
- The attestation is per academic year, not per programme. If you enrol somewhere else in the same year, you reuse the same attestation rather than paying again.
- You can download the attestation again all year from the same account, so a lost PDF is an inconvenience, not a second €105.
